Hello 2017

A little bit of a late hello, but a hello nonetheless. This post was originally scheduled for last weekend but when I sat down to write it I ran into some problems, namely that I didn’t actually know what I wanted to achieve this year! Over the last few months I’ve felt increasingly proud of how my blog is starting to grow, but equally disappointed in myself that I couldn’t keep it up over Christmas down to some bad planning and the dreaded winter cold. It’s showed my how much my little blog means to me and this year my main aims are to just keep improving and also create a realistic plan so I don’t end up flapping about last minute. I’m so excited for everything 2017 has to bring so I’ve laid out a few bullet points of things I want to focus on…

My Pumpkin Adventure

slindon pumpkins sign

Last Saturday I had the most autumnal day possible with coffee in the morning, a nice autumn walk and a trip to Slindon to pick up some pumpkins. It may not quite be a pumpkin patch where you can pick your own, but in a way it was better than that due to just the vast variety of pumpkins, gourds and squash available. Slindon just seems to be really pretty anyway, with loads of the houses covered in leaves and quaint little paths to walk down. Every year for charity, Slindon Pumpkins creates a pumpkin display that you can come and view (for free if you wish) and it really was impressive. This year the charity is Sussex Wildlife Trust and depicted flowers with bees buzzing around them.

Austria

Sorry for not posting for a while, but I’ve had the most insane few weeks of family occasions and a holiday to Austria. It has been nice to shut off from social media for a while though, a little break is good now and then!

I thought my first post back should be my holiday snaps from Austria! Such a stunning country, it might be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Now, these photos won’t be the best as I was under strict instructions to actually enjoy our holiday and not just document it, but I hope I’ve captured the highlights!

Lordington Lavender

Last Saturday I took my gran to Lordington Lavender, home of the only known Lavender Farm in West Sussex. They have a few open days once a year and after seeing the event advertised on Facebook, thought it’d be the perfect summer day activity. On the way back down the hill I even got my gran in the back of the very bumpy tractor pulled box, which I don’t think is an experience she’s going to forget in a hurry!

Honey & Raisin Flapjack Recipe

It was Sunday afternoon and I was investigating the cupboards for something sweet to eat. Rather than get out of my pjs and journey to the shops I figured I could probably find some ingredients to make something myself. I had some very important plans (roast dinner) with my mum in an hour so I quickly assembled everything from the cupboards and discovered all the ingredients for my Honey & Raisin Flapjacks.

Barcelona

Come for the tapas, stay for the cocktails.

Barcelona was incredible. A few weeks back I spent a lovely long weekend in this city and had an amazing time exploring the streets and beaches. Obviously tapas in Spain should be good, but everywhere we went the food was just incredible. So many flavours, with the seafood putting the prawns we have in the U.K. to shame. What I really love about tapas is not having to choose, you just get a bit of everything. No food envy here, everyone can get stuck in.
