I always love trying out new brands, especially those from the U.K. so was super excited when Wonderland Makeup got in touch about reviewing a selection of their products. They sent me through a primer, eyeshadow and nail varnish, which I’ve been testing out over the last few weeks.
First impressions were really good, I love the white and black, chic, simple packaging the primer and eyeshadow came in. These boxes give the brand a bit more of a premium feel, making them perfect for including as part of a gift and it might just be me, but I love having a few layers to open when I receive something. The brand is also cruelty free, which is obviously great.
The first item I set out the try was the eyeshadow in shade C Blue. As you can see from the photo, this is a bright, vivid blue colour and definitely a bit more daring than something I would usually pick for myself. This is one of the things I love about blogging though… trying out colours I wouldn’t have dared to in the past. I played around with this, creating a few different styles, one day styling myself with a very bright blue lid, whilst on other I used it to blend in with darker shades for a slightly more smokey look. I was surprised how much I’ve actually enjoyed using it, as brights are not usually something I’m drawn to, but loved all the different things you could do with it as it blended well and the colour stayed put for hours.
Next up, we have the Studio Finish Primer. For me, this is the stand-out product of the three. It also couldn’t have come at a better time as my Smashbox primer had been on its last legs for several weeks by this point and I was in pretty desperate need! I’ve been using this every day since and absolutely cannot fault it. The primer glides on really smoothly, creating a great base for my foundation as well as keeping everything in place so much longer than when without. It’s also really good value for a primer at a lower price point than my previous one – always a bonus!
Finally, we have the nail polish which I tried in the colour Snow. This was easy to apply, dried quickly and seemed to last well without chipping. It was interesting trying out a white nail polish, as again this isn’t necessarily a colour I would jump to buy, but it provides a great base if you want to really make a colour pop or do some fancy nail art over the top. It’s been particularly great with the festive season, as combined with some sparkle can create a very Christmassy look. I found this did take a couple of coats to get a completely opaque colour, but the quick drying time really helped with this and once done, lasted well.
I’ve been so happy trying out these products, so I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about them! If I had one recommendation to make it would be the primer as this has become an instant concrete addition to my daily makeup bag, but all three have been great and look forward to playing around with them all even more in the future. The eyeshadow has definitely inspired me to play around more with colour, so will be making some plans to add more colour into my collection once the New Year strikes.
